Accommodation

There are literally 100s of options for accommodation in Queenstown, below we have found a few options at various price points:

Blue Peaks Lodge will offer a 10% discount if you quote the Welsh/Robinson Wedding. Prices range from $120-$195 for a double room per night. It’s clean, tidy and very close to the reception venue. Jump online www.bluepeaks.co.nz or ring 03 4429224.

YHA Queenstown Central. 48A Shotover Street, which is a great location as you are in the heart of Queenstown. A private, double room with ensuite is $88 (so the cheapest you can get without going camping really!!). They are recently renovated rooms and it’s a friendly hostel. Marilyn. Phone 03 4427400 for more info.

The Copthorne Hotel is a bit pricer, but it’s a good location with nice suites, with rooms around $200 a night 1-4 people. Phone 03 4428123.

The Queenstown Holiday Park, has cheap(ish), basic accommodation ranging from motel style, to camp sites and small cabins. It does book out quickly though. Their website quote $158 for 1-4 people for the motel rooms. Ph: 0800 482 735. http://www.holidaypark.net.nz

There are hundreds of other hotel/motel options, which are equally good, and there are some lovely B &B’s that can be a reasonable option too. You may wish to rent an apartment, which is a good option, but it can be an expensive one. Quotes start at about $230 per night for two people, then another $40 for any additional people on top of that.

A good web-site to check is www.experiencequeenstown.co.nz for accommodation prices and places.

Transport

To get to get to Queenstown many people will need to book flights, cheap flights can sometimes be found on Air NZ’s grabaseat site Or as neither of the major airlines would offer me specials, I'm not playing favourites, I'll also provide the Qantas website.

The airport to town is roughly 7kms and about a $25 taxi ride.

Transport around Queenstown - Queenstown has plenty of taxis and a relatively limited bus service. If you are interested in a rental car, check out Juicy Rentals.

Activities

Oh boy don't get me started... Queenstown is the adventure capital of the world and there is something for everyone here. Bungy jumps, canyon swings, whitewater rafting, Lord of the Rings trips and sooooo much more. If you are interested you can book any entertainment through the YHA. (Lucy’s stepmum Marilyn is the head honcho there, so you know it’s gonna be reliable). Up the gondola itself there are a ton of activities, including the downhill luge.
